A Climate to Thrive Launch Event

January 24, 2016 @ 3:00 pm6:00 pm

You are invited!
A Climate to Thrive Launch Event
Sunday, January 24, 3:00pm
The Neighborhood House, Northeast Harbor

A Climate to Thrive (ACT) is a project started by members of the Mount Desert Island community that want to see both the communities of this island thrive long into the future. Let’s build MDI’s local economy and make this island a leader in practices and policies that reduce our carbon footprint. Moving our island towards energy independence and adopting other practices to address climate change will benefit the land and improve our health, strengthen our community and increase everyone’s economic well-being.

Be part of the conversation, the action and the solution! Join us for our launch event on Sunday, January 24 from 3:00-6:00pm at the Neighborhood House in Northeast Harbor. This event will include a keynote by Venu Rao, and break-out planning groups in:
•    solar power
•    other alternative energy sources
•    local food
•    waste management
•    policy
•    energy efficiency in buildings, and
•    transportation.

Each group will be led by experts and a facilitator and we eagerly welcome community input on all of these topics. Groups will form plans for next steps. The event will conclude with food, catered by August Moon, Sassafras Catering and Food for All, and live music!

We hope you will join us, as it will take all of us and our diverse experiences and expertise to move this project forward.

Stay tuned on all the details for the event, including information on attending experts, the keynote speaker, and much more by following us on Facebook and visiting our website. A Climate to Thrive thanks the New England Grassroots Environment Fund for their support of this event.
