Sierra Club Maine would like to invite you to the Fifth Annual Sierra Club Summer Environmental Film Series in Bar Harbor at the Reel Pizza.
This will be the fifth year for the film series – it has developed quite a following and Reel Pizza is continuing its generous donation of the theater and technical staff!
This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the Wilderness Act! Therefore the films slected for the Summer Environmental Film Series were chosen to celebrate the benefits of the wild and wilderness. The Maine Chapter has organized a series of Maine wilderness outings and special events to commemorate the 50th Anniversary.

July 21: A FIERCE GREEN FIRE
A Fierce Green Fire is the first big-picture exploration of the environmental movement – grass-roots and global activism spanning fifty years from conservation to climate change. Narrated by Robert Redford, Meryl Streep, and others, the film focuses on heroic activism, people fighting to save their homes, their lives, the future –and succeeding against all odds.
With featured speaker Patrick McGowan, former Commissioner of the Maine Department of Conservation.
The goals of the film series are to inform the community about crucial environmental concerns, to highlight the heroes of the efforts to protect the environment, and to enjoy beautiful cinematography depicting the wonders of the natural world!
