The process for obtaining marine aquaculture leases in Maine
The Maine Department of Marine Resources (DMR) is in charge of evaluating and approving aquaculture leases in any subtidal marine waters in state waters (within 3 miles of shore). These leases move upward in terms of the lease time and size, but also in the steps to obtain a lease.
DMR has a page devoted to how the public can participate, including a brochure and diagrams of the process that can be accessed from this webpage.
