The committee met regularly in late 2010 and 2011 to determine next steps toward creation of a Frenchman Bay Plan. This group was focused on developing a bay plan through late fall of 2011. An initial draft of the Frenchman Bay Plan [link] was completed in February 2012. At this point, the Planning Committee recognized that it was functioning more as a Steering Committee, not only working on bay planning but also trying to define how the group would work together in the future. In March 2012, by-laws were adopted by the group to govern how Frenchman Bay Partners (FBP) would continue to work together to ensure a healthy future for Frenchman Bay. Being able to determine whether actions to conserve habitats and species are working is critical to the success of any conservation effort. As we create a bay plan, we will develop goals that have measurable outcomes, and we will define the methods by which we will monitor the success of our conservation actions. The main components of the Open Standards are the five steps of the project management cycle. These include: Developing a vision: What do we want to be happening on our bay as a result of our conservation efforts? Creating a plan that helps to guide progress toward that vision. Setting the plan into action; getting things done and then monitoring the success of our actions Analyzing data and then using…
